Hello everyone! I’ll be talking about why I firmly believe in STEM education for Girls. Let’s get back to the basics for starters. What is education? Its power. Education, knowledge, and learning enable, empower and make people capable of producing change, development, growth, and creating impact in their communities. Now, let’s narrow the focus to STEM. STEM education encourages innovation, creativity, problem-solving, critical thinking and plays a major part in technological advancement, scientific development, and the overall progression of the world. Science, Math, Engineering, and Technology are what run this world. From creating electricity to text messages and e-mails, and e-commerce which is the sole pillar of every industry, STEM is everywhere. So, what happens when Girls start learning STEM? Girls grow, girls are empowered to create and innovate and make this community a much better and efficient system. There are a greater number of sharpened brains in the community which can only mean one thing- greater development, more discoveries, and more invention. There will be more participants who come from diverse backgrounds and who have diverse perspectives on situations. Dealing with a challenge by looking at it through various lenses is actually a very effective solution and works more often than not. With more perspectives, more ideas, more viewpoints, it will be just a matter of time before global challenges are tackled more effectively than ever and humans see no barriers in their development.
